One of France's most beautiful villages, Najac is a typical Rouergue bastide. Its history is closely linked to the life of the fortress, which protected the inhabitants and many notables. This dynamism led to the holding of numerous fairs, which contributed to the town's influence. The town is made up of a "bourg", the oldest part of the town that grew up at the foot of the fortress, and a "faubourg" (suburb) that has taken on the appearance of a "bastide" (fortified town). This district was built in the 13th century, and retains its characteristic quadrangular layout and roofed areas. Don't miss the governors' castle and Saint-Jean church.
