Entre-deux-Guiers is located at the western limit of the Chartreuse massif, in the Guiers plain and east of the superb Chailles gorges. Until 1860 it was a border town between France and the Kingdom of Sardinia. The bridge over the river, which allows you to reach Les Echelles, marked the border between two countries. The smuggler Mandrin (1725-1755), who scoured the region shortly before, recruited many of his men here and in the surrounding area. Since 2017, the distillation of Chartreuse takes place in Aiguenoire, 3 km south of the town. To the east of Entre-deux-Guiers, the Guiers Vif gorges offer beautiful walks.
