Duingt is distinguished by its peninsula on which stands its proud private castle of Ruphy. Facing the cliff of the Roc de Chère, its overhang marks the southern end of the large lake and the passage to the small lake. Often painted from the opposite shore of Talloires - its most beautiful perspective -, notably by Cézanne, it can be seen from the town of Annecy as well as from the village of Doussard on the opposite shore. The village has kept its medieval charm with its narrow streets and small rustic Savoyard houses with outside stairs and walls decorated with trellises. Walk on the Taillefer crest for a beautiful hike overlooking the lake to Annecy.
