9 km east of Loriol, it is one of the charming perched villages of the Drôme valley. A former priory of the order of Saint Augustine, built due south on a long limestone hillock parallel to the river, Allex, 2,500 inhabitants, contemplates the horizon as far as the Vercors, the pre-Alps and the Cévennes. You must discover the tower, the doors of the ancient wall, the religious buildings, the Saint Joseph sanctuary and the picturesque lanes of the old medieval center which is built up in stairs and climbs steeply. The town is known for its Ramières train station, the home of the National Nature Reserve, an aquarium and a refined inn.
