There are New Year's Eve celebrations in Haute-Vienne, Haute-Savoie and the Lot. The one in the Ardèche also pays tribute to the saint known for the end of year celebrations. For the Catholic tradition, the Roman Sylvester (died in 335) shone first by protecting a certain Timothy, an ardent defender of the Christian faith who died a martyr. Ordained a priest by Pope Saint Marcellin, Sylvester became, in 314, the thirty-third pope of the Church. On the Ardèche plateau, the left bank of the river, New Year's Eve enjoys a green setting appreciated by trout fishing, hiking and calm lovers. The village is home to a producer of organic berry jams, orchard fruit and mountain fruit (at the Mazairas farm, 4 km from the church) and an apricot producer, Patrick Besset, who lives in the village, opposite the private school, which offers in season fruit picked at maturity, for direct sale.
