Dependency of the Benedictine abbey of Monastier, Saint-Chaffre (Haute-Loire), known as the Columbarium juvené (955-983), the land of Colombier-le-Jeune was sold by Eustache de La Mastre to Guillaume de Tournon in 1325. This forézienne enclave in Vivarais lasted half a millennium (1296-1790). 1.5 km from the village, there is a Neolithic funerary monument, the dolmen of Chabot, and another, less well-known megalithic monument, the Signal Stone with, at its base, a carved cupula. This pretty village of 550 inhabitants, perched at an altitude of 500 m, is bathed by the Ormèze river and many other small rivers. The commune offers beautiful views of the Vercors to the east and the Ardèche mountains, and keeps agriculture alive around livestock, arboriculture and market gardening. It also displays its dynamism in rural areas with the presence of the Kan micro-brewery, a renowned artisan butchery, La Colombinoise, a bakery, a grocery store and a restaurant, La Table des Biencontents. That's what I mean!
