In the heart of Les Boutières, in the Monts du Vivarais and more precisely in the upper Glueyre valley, this commune represents a preserved area within the Monts d'Ardèche Regional Natural Park with a high biodiversity, both floristic and faunistic. We discover a beautiful variety of landscapes ranging from the hillside to the mountainous area. Throughout history, the town has been marked by religious unrest in the 16th and 17th centuries and, in the 19th century, the construction of numerous mills for silk processing. With the decline of the silk industry during the 20th century, the population declined sharply to 160 inhabitants. Today the economy is based on crafts, agriculture and tourism.
