In the heart of the Vendée plain, between the Marais Poitevin and the Bocage, 7 km from Luçon, it is its forest with 200 to 300 year old holm oaks that is remarkable. It is one of the rare forests in the Vendée to extend over limestone soils. Its origins go back to the Neolithic period, as evidenced by the numerous flints, axes and carved arrows found. Also worth seeing is the 14th century Gothic church, La Chevallerie, an 18th century residence with two round towers on each side and pavilions on either side, enhanced by a triangular pediment bearing a coat of arms, and the La Popelinière dwelling, with its two wings set at right angles around an octagonal tower.
