Occupied since protohistory and Roman times, the Antin site was the seat of a barony mentioned as early as 1110. The Duchy of Antin was created in 1711 by the establishment of the Marquisate of Antin, held by the Pardaillan family of Gondrin, as a peerage duchy. Louis-Antoine de Pardaillan de Gondrin (1665-1736), Marquis de Montespan, son of Madame de Montespan, was the first Duke of Antin. The patron saint of the village is Saint John the Baptist, who is celebrated on August 29th, patron saint of carders, weavers, cloth makers, millers, stonemasons, construction workers and wind instrument players... The commune shelters a small hillside reservoir at the place called Shametette. In the past, the main activity of the village was the manufacture of hazelnut baskets. Hence the nickname of the inhabitants: Los Tisteraires. Until the middle of the last century, the Bigourdan basket was used to pick potatoes, receive corn cobs or chestnut bugs.
