Pellefigue, 123 inhabitants today, was composed, before the Revolution, of 3 parishes (Pellefigue, Auriebat, and Viella) united in the commune of Pellefigue - Pelahiga in Gascon - in 1789. The church of Saint Antoine, which has undergone many changes over the centuries, probably dates back to the 14th century. Its beautiful entrance portal is a vestige of this period. The village is dominated by its castle (XIVth) which dominates the village. It is a private castle. For the anecdote, it seems that the climate of Pellefigue is beneficial and promotes longevity: the parish registers record no less than 8 centenarians between 1696 and 1746. Exceptional for the time! Even today, Pellefigue stands out with the presence of several centenarians. Other particularities? Pellefigue is the birthplace of René Capdeville, poet and former director of the ORTF. The village hall has hosted the French cup of mallet bowling several times. The village has a 24 hectare lake, which is popular with fishermen and has a beautiful view of the Pyrenees, a large car park and picnic tables to enjoy. You should also know that Pellefigue has several breeders and canners, and is home to a large methanisation unit (Méthagri 32) which recovers manure and agricultural plant matter. The local festival takes place on the first weekend in May, and there are also various events with meals and bowling competitions...
