Arblade-le-Bas has no large, imposing castle, and is a peaceful little village that probably dates back to the 10th century. The Nativité-de-la-Sainte-Vierge church in the center of the village dates from the 12th century, and its apse is clearly Romanesque. After being destroyed by lightning in the 16th century, it was rebuilt, buttressed and remodeled over time. Today, it's a sober structure that combines a number of architectural styles, which may come as a surprise. The village of 130 inhabitants derives its economic resources from vineyards and agriculture. By 1741, white wines were already being distilled and sold on the Mont-de-Marsan market.
