The village used to have some market prosperity, and today the large houses of carved, sometimes blond stone stone houses bear witness to the riches of the th century. Some merchants and bourgeois had made a fortune in the grain trade, an activity reminiscent of old measures of wheat, stone, preserved on the edge of the central square (simply named La Place and now determined by its large wrought iron crucifix). There was once the grain hall. The occupation of the site is old enough and intensified with the installation of a Benedictine priory in the th century. For the little history, the «louvetiers de Campagnac» were once famous in all Rouergue for their ability to remove wolves from isolated houses. In order to reward them for their efforts, they were given eggs, bacon or filasse that they wore on the donkey who accompanied them. But some would seem to be abusèrent from the generosity they were given, and this practice was severely regulated. The village of Campagnac is the cradle of the family of the famous publisher Privat. It is also here that the Serpantié family settled in the mid s and one of the descendants, Roger Serpantié, distinguished himself in the pictorial arts through numerous international exhibitions.Moving away from Campagnac through the road that rises to Saint-Urbain, we garera at the height of the branch line towards Campselves and Ajas. Then take a road to the right which will take you to the church of Capelette. It can also be accessed 400 metres further by a gangway tree lined. This church of the Holy Sepulchre dates from the th century for its oldest part. Built on a rocky promontory, it dominates the Lot valley and offers a spectacular panorama of the Aubrac. This place was at any time visited by men, as evidenced by the many recovered remains: arrows of arrows, glass beads… On the walls of the church, generations came to mark their passage, their love, their hopes. Some of these inscriptions are attributed to trades brotherhoods such as those of long hewers whose symbol occurs at several places in the building. The stone lintel and the gate amounts are carved out of symbols, some of which have not so far delivered their secrets.
