Dating back to the 12th century, Rosières-aux-Salines takes its name from the reeds lining the Meurthe river and its history as a saltworks. In the past, the saltworks provided important revenues for the Duke of Lorraine and the commune, contributing to its prosperity. The hospice, founded in the 15th century, bears witness to the town's tradition of charity and hospitality. Raised to the status of provost in the 16th century, Rosières has preserved historic remains from the 15th to 17th centuries. The stud farm, established by Louis XV, had an eventful history until the Second World War. The Saint-Pierre church, built in 1745 by the architect Mique, and the picturesque "Ban-Ban" belfry are also worth a visit.
