A must for trout fishing enthusiasts. A fishing and nature area has been created on the banks of the Thaurion and at the foot of the (private) castle built by Antoine d'Aubusson (note that a farmers' market is held every Friday evening at the foot of the castle, from 4.30 pm to 7 pm, from April to November). The walk leads to an arboretum of local trees and shrubs, an orchard of old local varieties, a mooring garden, a path that runs along the Thaurion and gives access to the fishing stations, the tower of the Cents-Lieux, a belvedere where places to discover in the country are indicated, the Maurice-Lecante house (renowned fisherman) which in summer hosts exhibitions and documentation on the country and the environment. In the church (13th or 14th century), an 18th century painting attributed to Antoine Rivals, a Toulouse painter, represents the adoration of the shepherds. Among the many tombstones in the pavement, some are decorated with brackets and masons' hammers. After the bridge, take the road to the Martinèche. In Les Sagnes, a Gallo-Roman necropolis of about a hundred burials in funerary chests and cinerary urns has been unearthed. Shortly after the hamlet of La Martinèche, where Martin Nadaud's birthplace is located, a sign indicates "la pierre aux Neuf-Gradins". After about 15 minutes of walking on a steep path, one reaches a heap of granite blocks. Among these, the pierre aux Neuf-Gradins, a stone with legends whose origin is unknown, is dug out of nine steps. From there, you can enjoy a magnificent view.Martin Nadaud is buried in the Soubrebost cemetery. Of the Romanesque church, there remains the crypt, the church having been rebuilt in 1860, following a fire. The four-lobed rose window, the keystones and the flamboyantly decorated west portal are reused from the old building. See the wood panelling (18th century) of the crypt altar, the painted wooden group of Saint Anne and the Virgin (17th century), and a Virgin of majesty (late 13th century), Notre-Dame de Soubrebost, highly venerated but often borrowed for other exhibitions!
