Avène, a dermatological and tourist spa, is nestled in the heart of the Pays des Monts et des Sources. The village is nestled in the meanders of the Orb valley and is perfectly integrated into the Haut Languedoc natural park, between the Espinouse and Escandorgue mountains. With the maze of staggered houses, the small church, the old tannery and the old stone bridge, the village confirms its belonging to the Languedoc landscape. Avène, it is also the magic of this secret water with curative virtues which springs from the hot grounds. In the 1860's, its fame led to the construction of a thermal establishment.
