In a cameo of green and rocky brown, Saint-Siffret is the starting point for visiting the Gard Provençal and the Tarn gorges. The streets are narrow, the houses carved out of the rock are cool and the old village is built like an acropolis. The Romanesque-Byzantine church of Saint-Siffret dates from the late 12th century. The 12th-century château de la Commanderie, with its fortified gateway, is now privately owned. The area around Saint-Siffret is home to several renowned wine appellations (Côteau du Pont du Gard, AOC Duché d'Uzès, IGP Gard and Pays d'Oc), as well as olive oil, honey and poultry.
