Right in the heart of the Cévennes (part of the Cévennes National Park area), Peyremale lies on the border between the Gard, Lozère and Ardèche departments, between Bessèges, Génolhac and Portes. The Cèze and Luech rivers run through the village, where they meet. The village boasts a 12th-century Romanesque church, old mills and a dolmen. Its former temple has been converted into a library devoted to Cévennes literature, with a thousand books on the region. A haven of peace and tranquillity, the village also boasts an organic honey factory in the upper hamlets, and an artisan soap factory in the heart of the village.
