Mentioned as early as the end of the 9th century, Luc was originally a Gallo-Roman estate. In 1300, Luc was described as a castrum, suggesting that it had a fortified enclosure, of which no archaeological trace remains. The village's medieval morphology is difficult to grasp, given the many changes that have taken place since then (repeated destruction of the village in the 16th century). Already important at the end of the 18th century, viticulture underwent unprecedented development in the middle of the following century. Today, vines are still omnipresent around Luc, and continue to contribute to the economy of the village and its 237 inhabitants.
