By the end of Antiquity, Villiers-Saint-Georges was already home to several settlements, but the 12th-century village was established away from this first nucleus of occupation, between the river and the Tertres massif, on the route of an ancient Roman road linking Sens and Meaux. A strategic location that has prevailed over the centuries. In 1842, the village included the neighbouring parishes of Flaix and Champcouelle. In September 1914, the village was on the front line of the Battle of the Marne, as the military cemetery tragically testifies. Villiers-Saint-Georges' monuments include the church, built in the late 12th century.
