The history of Saint-Denis-lès-Rebais is linked to that of the Abbey of Rebais, founded in the 7thcentury by Saint Ouen, future bishop of Rouen. Its medieval past can be seen at église Saint-Denis, built in the 13th century and remodeled in the 18th and 19th centuries. There is also evidence of a Protestant presence, with a cemetery and a temple inaugurated in 1811. Last but not least, there are other reminders of bygone days: wash-houses, notably at the mare des Marchés, and weathervanes on the gables of houses. You'll recognize the ploughman and his team, or the locomobile, the steam boiler that drove the threshing machine.
