Mitry was originally a village occupied in Gallo-Roman times, before being annexed to Mory in 1839. Today, Mitry-Mory still boasts several buildings that evoke its history. First and foremost, the 16th- and 17th-century Saint-Martin church in the Mitry-Bourg district. It houses a classical 17th-century organ. To the south of the town, a park once occupied by the Château de Bois-le-Vicomte, acquired by Cardinal de Richelieu and destroyed during the invasions of 1814 and 1815. Last but not least, the garden city built between the wars for railway workers, illustrating a whole chapter of working-class history.
