The tumultuous history of Villiers-sur-Orge contrasts with the peaceful aspect of its small streets. Indeed, the commune has passed from hand to hand over the centuries, having been the possession of lordships and monasteries (abbey of Saint-Germain-des-Prés, priory of Longpont, parish of Epinay-sur-Orge, etc.). Thus, it has never been a parish in its own right. We only know that at the beginning of the 17th century a "parish" chapel dedicated to Saint Claude existed there and that it was demolished around 1809. From the past, the bell of its modern chapel dedicated to Saint Claude remains. Dated 1573, it is classified as a historical monument.
