The city takes its name from Dravernum, a Latinized toponym from the Gallic Dracvern (spirit of the alders), while its territory was known since Dagobert I (VIIth century) and had been occupied since prehistoric times, as testified by the menhir of the Pierre à Mousseaux (in the Parc des Mousseaux). Today, the city benefits from vast green spaces and a beautiful architectural heritage. It is worth noting that the hamlet of Champrosay was very popular with artists such as Daudet, Delacroix, Nadar, Tourgueniev and Laurencin. It is also in Draveil that in 1911 the first garden city of France was created. In short, a city to explore without delay!
