The history of Forges is closely linked to the three riches of its subsoil. Iron, firstly, extracted and worked until the 16th century. Then the therapeutic ferruginous waters, discovered in 1573 and made famous by the arrival of Louis XIII, Anne of Austria and Richelieu in 1633. Forges-en Bray then changed its name to Forges-les-Eaux. Finally, the white and red clays which pushed the Englishman George Wood to settle there in 1797 to found the first earthenware factory. Today, Forges-les-Eaux is a small town appreciated for its 3,500 Forges. Upscale tourism is present there with a wide choice of tourist attractions.
