City Hall exhibiting 250 pieces dating from the end of the 17th and 19th centuries, made of white or red clay.
It is in the Town Hall of Forges-les-Eaux that 250 earthenware pieces made from the end of the 17th to the 19th century are exhibited. The discovery of this exhibition allows to understand this local tradition which goes back to the Roman period thanks to the abundant presence of clay in the subsoil of the town. In 1797, the Englishman Georges Wood developed the use of this clay by founding the first earthenware factory here at Forges. Forges faience is also famous for its naive decorations (houses, flowers, fish, birds...).
