A crossroads of several Roman roads, Bourneville was once a very busy place to pass through. In the Middle Ages there was an important market where expenses were paid for oats, known as the Bourneville measure. It is now a village of 1,250 inhabitants. It celebrates St. Peter, patron saint of the parish, and St. Uphre, who, according to legend, cures rheumatism by placing a wooden stick with its bark removed under the porch of the church.
