Damville was part of the line of defence of the fortresses on the Norman border. You can still see, near the church, the feudal mound, the last vestige of the castle built by Richard the Lionheart in the 11th century and destroyed by the English during the Hundred Years War. Nearby also passed a Gallo-Roman aqueduct, of which some remains are still visible, in the countryside, which fed the town of Gisacum (today Le Vieil-Evreux), some 20 km away, near Evreux. Today, Damville's main attraction is its chocolate factory, enjoy!
