Le Neubourg was a stronghold of the Norman duchy in the Middle Ages. The fortress, once a fortified castle, was home to many dukes and kings, and suffered the consequences of the Hundred Years' War. Now known as the "old castle", the edifice has few vestiges of its 12th-century construction by Roger de Beaumont. The commune is the center of a rich agricultural plateau, as evidenced by its bustling weekly market. Nearby, discover the Château du Champ de Bataille, the greenway linking Évreux to Bec-Hellouin and the flourishing flax fields, whose cultivation has been successfully revived in recent years.
