Before attracting hikers, fishermen and lovers of nature, the waves of Ain and Healthy have long fuelled intense economic activity, the Fleuron forges. The little commune therefore had beautiful hours of glory in the th century, when its forges were run by the Jobez family. Savvy industrialists, inventors, scholarly poets, influential politicians, Jobez mastered new ideas, built factories, schools, splendid homes, and even churches. The closure of the forges a few years ago (in 2009) made one of the local press. The village has been re-emerging in recent times because some historians claim that it is in fact here that the battle of Alésia has taken place!
