This small wine-producing village with 709 inhabitants at the last census was the site of an old Cluniac priory. Crossed by the river Seille, it belongs to the district of Lons-le-Saunier and the canton of Bletterans. In February 2012 and 2020, it was also the scene of the "Percée du Vin jaune" (Yellow Wine Breakthrough), the city of Arbois having refused to host the last edition of this bacchic event. It should be remembered that each year the latter honours this great white wine, whose standard bearer is the Château-Chalon.
