Chamblay, a municipality in the Val d'Amour, still has traces of its past marked by the transport and trade of wood. These include the old houses of timber merchants with their outside staircase designed to accommodate itinerant rafters on the upper floor. They assembled the logs coming from the forests of the Jura to form rafts which were floated to the regrouping points on the Doubs, the Saône or the Rhône. The time of the strong floods gave the departure of the convoys of wood. Near the old wood port where the logs were stored, a few dozen square metres of stone paving remain from what was once a preparation quay.
