This beautiful village is part of the Republic of Saugeais of which it is also the economic capital. Its name appears since 1330. It is part of the Cougnet and Pré Soleil wetlands, a remarkable natural area of 40 hectares listed in the national inventory of natural heritage. In 1974, the Chabod family created the Les Clochettes ski lift in the area, which leaves from the rond d'Amont at an altitude of 1083 m. It was the same year that the director Sidney Lumet chose this site and its station for the filming of the movie The Crime of the Orient Express. The station still exists. See the church of Saint-Anne rebuilt in 1880 and the chapel of the same name
