This commune, located 40 kilometers west of Bergerac, is surrounded by a large forest suitable for agriculture and viticulture. It has a small church (Saint-Michel church) and above all the Montaigne castle, built in the 16th and 17th centuries. Having suffered the ravages of a fire in 1885, it was immediately rebuilt in a neo-Renaissance style. The family home of the thinker Michel de Montaigne, it is here that the writer loved to read and write. His famous Essays, first published in 1580, were written in the round tower of the "librairie"
