In the heart of the Marne valley on the southern slopes of Épernay, Monthelon has more than 100 hectares of vineyards cultivated by more than 80 farmers and planted mostly with chardonnay, a terroir that offers freshness, finesse and minerality to champagne, as well as with miller. The unusual feature of its church is worth a visit. Indeed, it contains about fifty statues dating mostly from the 19th century. Built in 1869, the Saint-Nicolas church also shelters the treasures of the one which preceded it since the XIIth century, a Christ dating from the XVIth century, paintings from the XVIIth and XVIIIth centuries as well as a remarkable tapestry
