The name of this small wine village comes from the Latin vinetum meaning "vineyard". Located on the southern slopes of Épernay in the Cubry valley, Vinay is home to nearly 150 hectares of vines planted mostly with pinot meunier. the "raven's stream", the Cubry, which has its source in the pond of Noire Fontaine in the Enghein forest, flows through Vinay to join the Marne in Épernay. According to the legend, you could meet the ghost of Alix, daughter of the Sire of Saint-Julien, who drowned while fleeing from her father's rage after he discovered her affair with Henri, son of Thibault Count of Champagne.
