Located northwest of Reims, Hermonville is one of the oldest villages in France. At the place called the Cross of Ringlet, a Merovingian necropolis of the 7th or 8th century has been discovered. The origins of the village go back to the signature of a charter by Philippe-Auguste in the 12th century. It was at this time that the church of Saint-Sauveur was founded, which can still be admired today, even if many buildings were destroyed during the wars. In fact, the village was home to the school of Special Missions, where customs officers and airmen worked together for espionage and sabotage missions in enemy territory.
