Situated in the Vouzinois, the village of Châtel-Chéhéry includes the village of Châtel, built around an old castle which has now disappeared: only the place called Châtel remains to the north of the village and, a little further away, the old Cistercian abbey of Chéhéry. The latter, still visible, was founded in the 12th century and was completely rebuilt in the 18th century.
