Located a few kilometres from Chaumont-sur-Loire and on the banks of the Loire itself, the small village of Widows would draw its name from the massacre of all men in the Village by the Vikings in the th century, the latter having spared only their unfortunate wives. It still bears witness to the church windows representing the cruel children of Odin who macabre their victims. Others testify that the origin of the Widow's name originates from the «Vouivre», a river circulating in the small village.
