At the end of the 19th century, Viollet-le-Duc would have hesitated between Pierrefonds in Oise and Lavardin in his desire to restore a feudal castle. The architect finally chose Pierrefonds. Lavardin has since taken its revenge by being listed as one of the most beautiful villages in France. You must see the remains of its medieval castle dominating the small village with its slate roofs nestled on a chalky hillside, linked to other lands by its 56 m long gothic bridge, its Romanesque church, its Renaissance houses on every corner. The museum located under the town hall gives an overview of the rich heritage linked to the castle and allows you to discover the history of the village.
