Ardentes has existed since Roman times (Alerta) 12 km southeast of Châteauroux by the D 943. The city is located near the Châteauroux forest. It is bathed by the Indre and a nice walk is arranged (bridge with access for people with reduced mobility). Visit the ancient church of Saint Martin. A Roman road known as the "Chaussée de César" passes near Saint Martin Church. In Clavières, forges developed in the sixteenth century. A private castle still bears witness to this activity.
