Now, you settle down on the most beautiful place in Vieux Lyon, one of the very few original, on the cobblestones of the historic place du Change where was formerly held all Lyon fairs, facing the magnificent Temple du Change and at the foot of one of the most beautiful residences of the city, the Thomassin house that dates back to the 13th century. Here, you are in the heart of a Lyon postcard. The rooms of Chez Louise come to complete this marvelous Lyon postcard with a typical and traditional decor of a bouchon lyonnais. Guignol welcomes us among the frescoes and the numerous objects that are almost quite impossible to discover. The à la carte menu offers us all the specialities that have made the reputation of Lyon traditional cuisine. Let's start with the Salade lyonnaise, the gratin with onions, sausage in brioche served hot with its steamed potatoes. Then parsley seasoned frogs, calf's head, andouillette drawn by the string with mustard sauce, black pudding with apples, tablier de sapeur or poultry cake with aubergine caviar and its tomato coulis. The other delights of the house are the whole duck breast served with its reduced honey sauce or a nice fish trio (bream, cod and red mullet) with lobster sauce. Cervelle des canuts of course and a must-eat praline tart in Lyon way. Sometimes, “clichés” are not all bad, especially when they are Futé.

Here, you can, of course, taste a traditional truffade, but also interesting variants, blue, cantal, mushrooms... Generously served in the frying pan, it is of excellent quality. The chef also offers fondues as well as more elaborate dishes such as foie gras fried with plum plum cream or a back of cod in brig leaf. The wine list is short but of high quality, so we were able to taste a Côtes-d'Auvergne old vines perfectly matched to the truffade. However, the reception could be improved and the service is sometimes long when the team is overwhelmed.

At the Grolle, we start with the local aperitif, a glass accompanied by a Savoyard plancha made of local cheeses, reblochon, margériaz and tome of bauges and cold meats. We will find the local cheeses of the corner, the co-op of Lescheraines in the tartiflette or the feast of the Bauges, une tomme with potatoes, sausages and salad.
