Things to see and do Belize

The Swing Bridge is one of Belize City's most important structures, providing a link between the north and south of the city by spanning Haulover Creek, which is actually part of the Belize River estuary. Built in 1923, it is the oldest rotating bridge in Central America, enabling deep-draft boats to reach the sea at certain times. It is still opened by a 4-man crew, but only on request these days, as traffic on Haulover Creek is not what it used to be.

This is a real gallery, not a souvenir shop. Some thirty local artists, mostly painters, are exhibited here and the owner, a painter himself of course, will be delighted to tell you the story behind each painting. Culture, wildlife, landscapes and seascapes are showcased here like nowhere else in Belize. What's more, the paintings are packaged in small tubes, ideal for taking home in your luggage.
