TOWN HALL

A quick detour to take a look at the fresco created by Manuel Villamor is in order. This colorful, graphic mural brings the town hall to life. The mural depicts episodes from Corozal's history, including the Caste War, with the fall of Bacalar; the flight of refugees to British Honduras; the founding of Corozal; and Hurricane Janet. There are some interesting historical scenes, such as the fall of nearby Mayan towns, highlighting the iniquity of the colonial system.
