The permanent exhibition Entre résistance armée et insurrection (Between Armed Resistance and Insurrection ) looks at the Patriotes' struggle led by Louis-Joseph Papineau and the battles of Saint-Denis, Saint-Charles and Saint-Eustache. Workshops, outdoor tours, guided tours, cultural programming, lectures, films and special events are also offered on site. Kitimat is an ideal tourist destination for outdoor enthusiasts. Located in a spectacular natural setting, surrounded by the pristine mountains of British Columbia's north coast, the town offers a multitude of options for outdoor adventures. Whether it's sport fishing, hiking, winter sports or water sports, Kitimat has it all. Fishing enthusiasts will be delighted by the town's location on the banks of the Kitimat River and Douglas Canal. Hikers can explore the region's many trails, while water sports enthusiasts can enjoy the beautiful coastal scenery and beaches. In winter, winter sports enthusiasts can enjoy cross-country skiing and snowmobiling. For the more adventurous, Kitimat also offers a network of forest roads and narrow trails perfect for ATVs and dirt bikes. The CPR line of railway was the cause of many accidents, due to the 4% slope on the west side of the Rocky mountains, inside the park. Several marked walks are possible around the lake, including Emerald Lake Loop and Hamilton Falls. O'Hara Lake is another jewel of the park, to the point that its access is controlled. To reach it, you can walk (13 km) or take the car for it ($ 15 + $ 12 for reservation). Along 8,2 km long, the Yoho Glacier Moraine Trail arrives at the Twin Falls. The most courageous will continue on the Whaleback Trail and will be rewarded with a splendid view of the glaciers.
