A chic and rather expensive place, with a subdued atmosphere but where you can eat very well.

Svang opened in 2018 and is one of the best restaurants in town! Fish takes pride of place, especially those caught locally the day or the day before. Vegetables are also sourced from nearby farms wherever possible, and the restaurant is ethically conscious overall. The dishes are very well presented and the flavors blend particularly well. It also doubles as a wine bar. A great success!

The Bakkekroen is an old restaurant from 1936, typically Norwegian. The style of the interior decoration has not changed for 20 years: heavy curtains and red tablecloths that match the wrought iron lamps. The menu includes steak au poivre, veal escalope, halibut and plaice. For dessert, homemade ice cream. On weekdays, the menu offers mushroom soup for about 100 kroner, followed by the famous Norwegian dish får-i-kål, a kind of fragrant Norwegian sauerkraut. The coffee is traditionally accompanied by an egg yolk liqueur.

In the heart of the Oslo Alps, this large log cabin, blackened by the tar plaster as much as by time, dates from 1892. The roof is spiked with dragon heads that seem to stand guard. One of Norway's best chefs, Bent Stiansen (Bocuse d'or in Lyon in 1993), has opened his own restaurant in a 17th century rococo house. This was the home of King Ulrik Fredrik Gyldenløve's representative from 1664 to 1679. Staatholdergaarden is worth a visit in itself. Interesting culinary proposals, such as crab croquettes with a shellfish emulsion or smoked salmon rillettes with cabbage purée as a starter. For the main course, we are pleasantly surprised too, with halibut with beetroot or duck confit with pumpkin. The wine list is diversified. We would like to have cheese cake with raspberry coulis or baked apples with caramel sauce, pancakes and cardamom ice cream!

Cloister atmosphere then, as its name indicates, almost Gregorian. The building dates from 1899 and the restaurant was opened in 1992. In the basement, impeccable decoration with a myriad of candles, barrels and bottles of wine! Another very good value for money, fish specialities but also very tasty reindeer meat. 3, 5 and 7 course menus which are very nicely presented on the plate and very good! The products follow the changing seasons. The wine list is extensive. Reservation recommended.

This restaurant, which forms the southern tip of the Aker Brygge shopping mall, is a pearl in the fjord! On the menu, fish of course. In winter, a large fireplace lights up the room, and in summer, a beautiful terrace opens onto the sunny fjord. The large windows protect from the sea winds. Almost every table is near a window. Lobsters play in an aquarium near the entrance. The menu does not make special reference to the Lofoten Islands. The fish dishes are accompanied by mushrooms, ratatouille, pasta or artichokes.

The restaurant is housed in this old inn dating from 1640, all in red painted wood, situated in a rural setting with horses, goats and chickens. The large flowery lounge behind lace curtains seats 25 under old white and pink lacquered panelling, but small intimate rooms such as the "doctor's lounge", the "virginal room" and the cosy "grandmother's kitchen" can accommodate up to 4 people, for a dinner by the fire.

Meat lovers can order stews. Hamburgers and some fried food are also available.

Here we aim for the "top of the top", one of the best restaurants in Oslo. The cuisine brings a fusion of Norwegian dishes revisited in a postmodern fashion and exotic touches delicately spicing up the menu. The service as well as the food is obviously of the highest quality, nothing to complain about on the performances. Needless to say, you'd better have a full purse before entering, but for the quality, it's definitely worth it. Some restaurants in Norway are much more expensive for less tasty meals!

A pleasant place to enjoy a good espresso and homemade pastries or bread. We will take advantage of the large terrace to spend several hours in the sun. A small grocery store awaits you inside, if you are interested in their products. This place is also a restaurant and offers for example halibut served with baked potatoes and a beurre blanc sauce, or vegetarian lasagne with spinach, squash, ricotta and mozzarella which are very creamy. Original children's menus, with fish sticks or quesadillas.

People's is a bar-restaurant with an interesting soviet design. The service is, for once in Oslo, always smiling, and the staff really tries to please its customers. Mexican food and burgers are in the spotlight, and excellent tacos. At lunchtime, slightly cheaper dishes are offered. A good choice of beers on draught (9 different ones) and even cider on draught. An address all the more pleasant as it is located on a vast square preserved from the traffic. Not great gastronomy, but a good option all the same!

A slightly more expensive than average restaurant, but one that pays for its location in a magnificent Art Nouveau building. And it works! The place is often full of people who come to enjoy an artistic-Parisian atmosphere, in a setting dotted with old music-hall posters. You can eat various omelettes, chips, snails, salads, nachos, soups, and especially their famous fish 'n chips! The smoothies are very fresh and not very sweet! Homemade apple crumble not bad at all. A nice find.

A good sushi restaurant, the first one to open in the nice neighborhood of Grønland, and therefore all the more worthwhile to have lunch there as it is frequented by many locals. It is possible to order take-away. Chefs who know what they are doing, they perpetuate the family tradition and reuse the recipes of their grandparents! If you can't necessarily travel to Japan these days, you can at least go to LeMeo Sushi and have a great time.

Two options for this pizza chain: Italian or gourmet. That is to say the classic or the exotic! If the prices seem excessive, they are in fact rather correct for the capital! It is especially the number of pizzas on the menu that surprises with 46 proposals in all, including several vegetarian options. They also serve calzone. For children, you can order smaller pizzas for 95 NOK. Ice cream is offered for dessert. The quality of the pizzas makes it one of the locals' favorite pizzerias.

Welcome to the most French of Oslo's restaurants! It's almost like being in Paris, in a local brasserie (decoration, service and French atmosphere). Benjamin is certainly the best French restaurant in town. Moreover, many locals will recommend it to you. On the menu, tarts flambées, fondues, cheeses, charcuterie... the place is perfect for those nostalgic for the country or those who live far from France and its great cuisine. Each dish will be pleasantly washed down with one of the good wines on the menu!

This architectural feat designed by the Norwegian firm Snøhetta is absolutely unique! It is an underwater restaurant, the first in Europe. You can recognize it thanks to its head that emerges from the water. The atmosphere and the decor are futuristic, while remaining sober. Inside, the immersion five meters under the surface of the water is total. With a Michelin star, the chef Nicolai Ellitsgaard Pedersen serves fish and seafood with seaweed harvested under the restaurant. It is imperative to book several months in advance.

You can also simply go there to drink a coffee or why not, eat a good dessert, like their oatmeal crumble with berries of the moment, or their homemade chocolate cake with its raspberry sorbet ball.

In the heart of Nidaros, in a pretty white house typical of old Trondheim, welcome to Bror Tacos & Burgers. A very good address, often visited by Trondheim's youth. Wide choice of burgers and tacos, with various vegetarian and vegan options. The chefs have chosen to focus on the quality of the products chosen, and we like it so much we're reluctant to go back the next day. What's more, the team is very friendly and offers service that's both simple and perfect, in just the right measure. We're drawn in by the dishes we see passing by.

Cow Sea is a restaurant that offers both meat, burgers and other steaks and delicious sushi! A curious mix, we might think at first glance, but here, they do both very well! The dish of the house "the Cow Sea Experience" is a dish to share that offers a variety of dishes, from sushi to grill. An interesting mix of cultures and flavours! This restaurant formula also makes it possible to satisfy everyone, young and old, sushi fans or fans of juicy burgers and very nicely garnished with good products.

Hector is not a place like the others. Just take a look at the website and you'll see that. The design is there, the humour too. The service is impeccable for this Mexican-inspired restaurant. Tacos galore, jewels on the tables, sangria flowing freely. The Saturday brunch formula is really nice. Reservations are highly recommended. Almost every weekend, DJs take turns at the bar, where it's also a good idea to book a table. A real experience!

Lars Laurentius Paulsen's motto is: tradition and renewal. Or how to bring up to date the Norwegian culinary traditions of yesteryear. This is the challenge of this restaurant, and it has been met with flying colours! There is also a small stage where some artists come to perform. On the menu, cod, salmon cooked with small vegetables, reindeer steak with cabbage and mushrooms and of course a vegetarian selection. Troll is also known for its good beer and wine list.

Just like at home, Rodolf and Anita open the door of their little house. The buffet is varied every day, with a wide choice of salads, fish, salmon and other carefully prepared local products. Skolestua is an old school, and the restaurant room is reminiscent of it: school chairs, wooden tables, slates, overlooking the fjord. Well equipped, this small inn is a small paradise in the heart of Lofoten. Rudolf and Anita will be happy to give you advice on the islands and will be very good guides.

As they say here, the Klatrekaféen is at the same time "an English pub, a Nepalese tea house, a restaurant in the South of France and a base camp on Everest" and it's true, at the strait of a pretty alley decorated with Nepalese prayer flags, the Klatrékaféen is a bit of all that, a nice mix of genres, a warm place that offers to everyone to be a bit at home and yet so far away. The café-restaurant offers something to eat, small dishes, pastries, drinks etc... Our favourite place in Henningsvaer.

Svinøya Rorbuer's restaurant, Børsen Spiseri, offers exceptional cuisine in a charming setting full of history. In this old house built in 1828, with its crisp flooring, you can sit comfortably around one of the candle-lit wooden tables to enjoy the specialty, dried cod, or stockfish, in all its forms! Of course, the restaurant offers a choice of several dishes (based on fish, of course, but not only) made from local products and cooked with invention and originality.

A very nice address in Svolvaer. We'd recommend it as a bar, but Bacalao also offers an attractive menu at very reasonable prices (burger, salads, fish & chips, mussels & French fries, vegetarian dishes). The HQ of the local youth, the spacious bar with its subdued atmosphere and surf décor, the open fire in winter and the atmospheric playlist: the place is warm and cosy, and you soon feel right at home. In summer, Bacalao's large terrace overlooks the harbour. On weekends, bands also perform here.

One of the best addresses on the island can be found south of the Lofoten in Sorvagen. Welcome to the Maren Anna, where Annette, Jean Baptiste and their team welcome you all year round with a smile. Their specialty? The Stockfish of course! We also invite you to taste the fish soup, saithe and many other specialties cooked with care and imagination. During the day, the place could be compared to a good brasserie, while the restaurant wears its evening dress and is akin to a "good table".

The Scandic Hotel's restaurant is one of the best in Narvik. The place is modern, chic and yet unpretentious. A good address for occasional meals. On the 16th and top floor of Scandic City, you will find the panoramic Totta bar with a beautiful terrace. Ideal to end the evening in beauty. Every morning a great breakfast is served. You can have a good time at the buffet and skip lunch without any problems! There is a wide choice of sweet and savoury dishes.

Fancy a taste of local northern specialities? Fiskehallen, the fish market, is the ideal place to buy fresh, quality fish to prepare yourself! You can also order ready-made dishes prepared by the cooks at the fish restaurant located in the hall. Dishes can be eaten in or taken away. Naturally, this is a popular spot for locals, and offers tourists the opportunity to sample local fish. Authenticity and freshness guaranteed at Fiskehallen! Not to be missed!

Although Inside Rock Cafe is known for its good burgers (the best in town, they say), we can only recommend it for the international atmosphere and the live concerts! In summer, you can also enjoy the indoor garden. You can also enjoy all kinds of tapas (including vegan fries!) with a good beer. Children's menus start at NOK 106. Inside Fløyen Rock Café moved to their current location in November 2019 and renamed itself Inside Rock Café Korskirken.

Bien restaurants are divided into several establishments according to their specialties. Bien Centro offers traditional Italian cuisine with a focus on quality pasta and pizza. Local products of course - and the prices reflect this - with a rather limited menu. There's also Bien Basar (offering more refined cuisine with no particular reference to Italy), SnackBar and Bien Pizzabar. While the last two are more out of the way, the downtown establishments should be enough to appease your appetite.

Zupperia or the pun for "superior" referring to the fact that quality soups are served here. It is the largest soup restaurant in the city. An interesting option for those who want to eat healthy at a reasonable price! A simple and lively place as we like it, despite the atmosphere being a bit too dim and dark for our taste. The variety of dishes offered means that everyone around the table will find something to eat. The high ceiling is very pleasant because it makes the place breathe.

In a warm and elegant setting, Du Verden offers a cuisine that reflects its image: refined and of quality. A pretty bay window overlooking the promenade of the port will let you enjoy the outdoors even in the middle of winter. In summer, a superb terrace, very classy, allows you to settle outside and enjoy the long awaited sun rays. In the evening, the colours are breathtaking. As for the cuisine, the dishes are varied, local and at very affordable prices. A place to visit absolutely for a relaxing moment!
