MARCHÉ DE SAINT-CLAR

Every Thursday and Saturday morning, producers, traders and shoppers set up shop in the Saint-Clar market hall. People come from the surrounding hamlets and villages to stock up on fresh produce: vegetables, fruit, poultry... In summer, the procession of hawkers joins the battalion of producers. They liven up the village center in a cheerful, friendly atmosphere. The market is in full swing during the garlic festival in early August. It is in this atypical location, steeped in history, that you are invited to taste the estate's cuvées. Today, Amélie and Vincent, the 7th generation of the Couillaud family, have brought all their sensitivity and know-how to bear on the elaboration of cuvées combining finesse and elegance. Château de La Ragotière wines feature the 3 emblematic grape varieties of the Nantes vineyards: Muscadet, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. What's more, the Couillaud brothers had the brilliant idea of bringing grape varieties from other regions and planting them in the Loire. Soil and climate different from their region of origin give them an astonishing typicity... Let yourself be surprised by their Riesling, Viognier or Petit Manseng. Note that the estate will be converting to organic farming in 2019. Great discoveries to be made in a magical place! Among the estate's favorites: Muscadet Sèvre-et-Maine sur lie Cuvée Amélie 2018. Lovingly born in Nantes, that's what you can read about the rice pudding of its creator Yann le Corre, a promise proudly inscribed on his scooter that travels around Nantes! Rice pudding, that smooth and comforting sweetness engraved in the depths of our memory... Well, you won't believe it, but we found the time machine! Aboard his BeeOne scooter with its midnight blue dress (as in a dream), Yann has been inviting us since 2018 to rediscover the taste of our childhood. This former commercial director of the famous Maison Pradier has chosen to give a new direction to his professional life (a sort of return to his roots as a tribute to his grandparents' dairy farm in Brittany), by devoting himself to the most emblematic dessert, rice pudding. But not just any dessert! Indeed, he focuses on quality: certified organic artisanal, with milk from the Savenay area, rice from the Camargue, natural and seasonal products, without additives, colourings or preservatives and with 30% less sugar. Because its particularity is to offer a range of 80 different flavors. You can taste the classic Bourbon vanilla from Madagascar, salted butter caramel, or the most original, cinnamon lime rum, yerba maté, vanilla apple compote or Caribbean chocolate... Special attention is paid to respect for the environment: short circuits are preferred and the containers are compostable and biodegradable. Yann welcomes you during the day on Wednesday in front of the Nantes University Hospital, and in the morning on the market of Talensac on Friday, and Vertou on Saturday and Sunday. You can find his creations in some organic shops and all the good creameries. You can also order online for a fresh delivery in France.

Jean-Yves Vapillon remains the only independent winegrower in Rouget de Lisle. His vineyards are in fact spread over three localities. His father was a winegrower in the Beaujolais. Starting with 50 ares in 1994, his estate now has 7 hectares, where the Chardonnay grape is at its best. The wines grow in the depths of the cellars of an imposing winegrower's house. MANOIR DE LA TÊTE ROUGE

For more than 20 years, this vineyard has been worked in organic agriculture. The grape variety grown is Cabernet Franc and the wines produced from it have names that are original, to say the least. The Free mousse Pet Nat is a sparkling wine with redcurrant aromas. Recently, a few vines of Pineau d'Aunis, not very developed in Anjou, have been added to the production.
