In the center desert, large paintings are carried out on the ground for ritual ceremonies. For colors and texture, blood, feathers, twigs and seeds are used. In the early 1970 s, Papunya's local artists began experimenting with acrylic painting on canvas where colored touches reproduced the motifs of their paintings on the ground. Today, the artists of the Western Desert movement are recognized among the best in Australia. It was used to shoot the film We of the Never Forever, the famous novel of Jeannie Gunn, which tells life in the Outback near Mataranka at the turn of the last century. The film can be seen on the site.

The watercourses pass through the Elsey National Park. The trail makes a 1,5 km loop.

In order to achieve this, it is necessary to follow a track about 500 m along the river. However, these minor falls are not always visible so far the vegetation is dense, particularly at the end of the "wet".

This is the oldest homestead of the Top End, built in 1879 by Alfred Giles, a former telegraph employee who settled here. The four beautiful raintrees surrounding the house were planted by his wife for each of their children. Canoe on the Katherine River and watching crocodiles at night are on the program.
