LARAPINTA TRAIL
Read moreHikers from all over the world come here to hike the Larapinta Trail, a 223 km trek divided into 12 sections through the West Macs, with breathtaking scenery, beautiful gorges to enjoy cool dips and starry nights. You're guaranteed to see wildlife, including some of the rarest birds in the dry zone. A wonderful way to visit the majestic West Macs. Some sections can be done separately, such as from Standley Chasm (section 4), Ormiston Gorge (section 12), and the final section to Mount Sonder. Although not the most spectacular, the first section from Telegraph Station is relatively easy to do, either on foot or by bike.
Practical. The entire route takes 10 to 20 days and requires experience and preparation, including getting food delivered along the way and having enough water. It is highly recommended to hike with an emergency signaling tool (satellite phone, EPIRB, or other). You can arrange rental and supplies with several operators in Alice Springs, including Larapinta Trail Trek Support who offer packages with everything you need (www.treksupport.com.au) or Outback Elite Tours who can help with transfers and supplies (www.outbackelitetours.com). Several operators also accompany you on the trail, offering different levels of comfort (for example World Expeditions, Trek Larapinta or Walking Country).
HOWARD SPRINGS NATURE PARK

She was found by helicopter thanks to giant inscriptions on the ground. Fortunately, she had taken care to declare her departure to the rangers and was carrying the necessary supplies to survive. Beautiful camping area at Reedy Creek (8 km from the start) with a small lake to cool off. Possibility of a day hike from Lilla car park.
ALICE SPRINGS GOLF CLUB

It was designed by the legendary golfer Peter Thomson in the 80's. 18 holes, with a magnificent view of the MacDonnell Ranges in the background. In addition to golf, you can try your hand at lawn bowls, that mix of bowling and curling (but without the broom) that Australians love. It is necessary to book in advance to avoid disappointment. Make sure you say it's your first time to get the explanations. The restaurant ( pub style food) also offers great views.
TABLETOP TRACK
Read moreIn the heart of Litchfield, the Tabletop Track is a beautiful hike that takes you to some of the park's most beautiful places, such as Wangi, Greenant Creek, Florence Falls and Walker Creek, passing through little-visited areas with unforgettable scenery. The total distance is 39 km, which normally takes between 3 and 5 days, and requires some planning and can only be done between June and September. You can also do only one section in two days. There are five campsites on your route. Try to plan your route in advance.
LAKE BENNETT

It's rarely mentioned in tourist brochures, yet it's the perfect place for a short stay or a break after one of your adventures. The main advantage is that you can swim in the lake, which is also very popular with sport fishermen and canoe-kayak enthusiasts.
