Read moreBuilt in 1893 to accommodate travelers and the many herdsmen who used to transit from the Kimberleys to Queensland, the Daly Waters Hotel is one of the oldest buildings in the Northern Territory. Decorated with a lot of humor (and bras!), it is an original place where you should absolutely stop. Almost always crowded, including a lot of grey nomads with high tech caravans and motorhomes, all in a very good atmosphere. An old gas station with two pumps is located just in front of the pub. Live concert in the evening.

Read moreA Darwin institution. The open-air cinema is located in a wonderful setting at the seaside and at the foot of the cliffs housing the NT parliament. Many foreign art house films, including some French, are shown under the stars. Buy the tickets on the website to be sure to have a place. Free seating, so it is advisable to arrive early to reserve a good deckchair. You can then enjoy the bar or a quick dinner. Pedestrian access via the stairs at the end of the esplanade, by car via the Waterfront.
CHARLIE'S OF DARWIN
Read moreCharlie's of Darwin is Darwin's first gin bar and opened in 2020. They also produce their own gin, which you can try, among a host of gins from all over the world. Many cocktails also available, so don't hesitate to try the Top End specialties, like their Salty Plum Gin. This is also one of the best restaurants for sampling local produce, from crocodile to shrimp to buffalo. The decor is carefully designed and very open to the outside world, with a view of immense trees.

Read moreA small hipster coffee shop where the inhabitants of Alice meet in the morning, right next to the cinema. You will taste a cup of DuYu coffee, organic and roasted in Alice Springs. A few options for munchies, including their variously flavored toast (we loved the ricotta, fig, barn syrup and pecan!). Locally designed T-shirts and bags for sale. Just a step away, the pastries of the Bakery which became a local institution in a few years after having started with a stand on the market (unfortunately Australian prices in force!)
