NOSSA SENHORA DO ROSARIO

Situated at the very end of the rua da Banana, you have to climb a few steps to reach one of the country's oldest and best-preserved churches. Built in 1493 and still in use today, this Manueline-style chapel has been magnificently clad in intricately designed blue and yellow azulejos that can still be admired today. Outside, you'll find the graves of influential figures dating back several centuries.

CENTRO CULTURAL ARTES E OFICIOS
Read moreThe door is always open, and we like to stop in for a moment before heading up the famous rua da Banana. The aim of this cultural center is to promote the work of local artisans, most of whom are women. You'll find a wide range of products - jewelry, soaps, jams and more - to take home while doing a good deed. Special mention should be made of Dedexa's original agricultural ponches, made with honey or mancara (peanuts), and Maria Evora's fabric dolls.
